UAW Local 1069

Thank you for your support

December 21,2010

Dear Brothers & Sisters,

I want to inform everyone that effective January 3,2011, I am resigning as your President due to personal reasons.  I cannot devote 100% of my time and energy as President and it would not be fair to the leadership and the members of UAW Local 1069 to stay in office at this time.

I want to thank everyone for their support over the years and allowing me to serve the membership.  Chris Owens,Vice President, will assume the position of President for the remainder of the term. Chris is more than capable of assuming the role of President of Local 1069. His intimate knowledge of the contract and the responsibilities of a union official are beyond question. I leave my position with the belief that I’m leaving you in the best of hands.

Due to an error by the printer of the calendar, January 1,2011 is not a negotiated holiday; however the real negotiated holiday will be held on Monday, January 3,2011! Enjoy that day off!

I would also like to wish the membership a Happy Holiday, Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

In Solidarity,
Michael T. Patterson, President

COLA

                                                                                         July 13, 2010
Dear Brothers & Sisters,

The Company recently informed the Union Leadership that they had miscalculated the COLA based on the months of December2009, January 2010, February 2010 and have overpaid us by $.04 per hour.  The Company refused to step up and pay for their mistake and will recoup their $.04 per hour paid for all hours worked in March, April and May to be taken out of a lump sum in your July 29, 2010 paycheck.  If you worked forty (40) hours per week for these three (3) months, the lump sum taken back would be approximately $21.00.

With all of that being said effective July 9, 2010 employees on the active payroll (including those on leaves of absence of ninety days or less) will receive a $.10 per hour Cost of Living increase.

In Solidarity,

WALK FOR THE WOUNDED & WOMEN’S COMMITTEE MEETING…GET INVOLVED!

Dear Brothers & Sisters,

I want to thank the UAW Veteran’s Committee, The Veteran’s Task Force, The United Auto Workers, Boeing and everyone involved for their hard work and generous donations for the great cause of Operation First Response Walk for the Wounded. Over $10,700.00 was collected over four days of gate collections by the UAW Veteran’s Committee and the Veteran’s Task Force. It was good to see both the Union and the Company teammates working together for a great cause. Great Job by everyone!

There will be a Women’s Committee meeting on Wednesday, May 26, 2010 at 3:15 at the Union Hall to see if anyone is interested in becoming a part of the Women’s Committee. Please come with new ideas or causes for the Committee to work on. Refreshments will be served so please come down and bring a friend to get involved.

In Solidarity,

Michael T. Patterson, President
