UAW Local 1069

February 23, 2021

Dear Brothers and Sisters,
Hopefully, by now you all have received your new UAW Local 1069 Membership cards along with your “Weingarten Rights” card. Please review your new cards thoroughly, especially your Weingarten Rights card. Know your rights in ANY event when you are required to meet with Boeing Management, Investigators, and/or Security personnel for ANY reasons.
We have experienced “alleged” claims against some of our UAW Local 1069 Members made by non-represented employees regarding incidents of harassment and/or inappropriate behaviors. Please be mindful of your words and actions when having conversations with ANY non-represented employee (salary), no matter what title he or she may hold. We highly suggest when speaking with salaried employees to have a Union Representative with you to witness and listen to your conversations. Our site’s Labor Relations Specialists takes the position that non-representative folks are considered “more credible” than any of our 1069 Brothers and Sisters.
Also, this past Friday, there were three slip-and-fall injuries to our members due to the ice left untreated on Boeing property. Over the years, past practice here at our site was to use our represented Facilities employees assisting with snow and ice removal. Our SSG (Maintenance) Management Site Director now chooses NOT to have our Brothers and Sisters assist with these emergency operations and solely rely on outside contractors. This is yet another attempt by our Maintenance Management Team to eliminate work performed by our UAW Brothers and Sisters. This also proved to be disastrous to our site and to the members who were injured by trying to save a dollar.
Lastly, we will be receiving a 5-day Philadelphia Performance Incentive Payout (PPIP) this Thursday, February 25, 2021. Keep up the great work and continue to do what you do best, build the best aircraft in the world.

In Loving Memory of
Scott M. Dorrin (March 14, 1965-February 3, 2021)
James “Big Jim” Hulton (January 23, 1946-January 27, 2021)

In Solidarity,

Michael Tolassi
