August 3, 2022

Dear Brothers and Sisters,
On Monday, August 1, 2022, The Boeing Company informed our UAW Leadership Team there is an immediate need for a surplus of approximately ten (10) “Composite Fabricators” and fifteen (15) “Sheetmetal Assemblers.” However, your Bargaining Committee is currently collaborating with The Company to create a training opportunity to develop skills required for the “Aircraft Technician” classification for these impacted groups.

This opportunity is being offered to all current UAW members who are presently Sheetmetal Assemblers (18B08) and Composite Fabricators (15C08) only.

Those interested in being trained to achieve the Aircraft Technician skill set will be required to attend six (6) consecutive weeks of Aircraft Tech training. Training details are as follows:

• Participants will be selected for each session at management’s discretion from the list of volunteers, based on business needs. However, everyone who volunteers during the volunteer period will eventually be sent through the training.
• Classes are tentatively scheduled to begin the week of Monday, August 15, 2022 (a start date will be confirmed after interest is gathered).

o There will be more than one 6-week session offered if enough volunteers are identified.

• Classes are scheduled for six (6) consecutive weeks during regular 1st shift hours. Interested employees currently on 2nd and 3rd shifts will need to work 1st shift for the duration of the six (6) weeks.
• Employees must successfully complete the A/C Tech class which will result in the following:

o Receipt of a Certification of Completion.

o Considered “qualified” for future openings in the Aircraft Technician (11C10) job classification.

Interest will be collected until close-of-business (COB) Monday, August 8, 2022. Failure to apply by August 8, 2022, will mean employees are unable to participate in this program.

We strongly urge employees in these affected classifications to apply for this training. The Company has indicated there is a “rising demand” for the A/C Tech skill set.
