UAW Local 1069

July 5, 2023

Dear Brothers and Sisters,
I hope everybody had a good and safe July 4th holiday. Friday July 7, 2023, will be the last day for the 28 employees who were accepted for the Voluntary Layoff Program (VLO). Good luck in your retirement and thank you for your support for this Local. With that I would like to wish Mike Barbacano good luck with his upcoming retirement. Mike is one of the employees who was accepted for the VLO. Mike has served this membership for close to 20 yrs. Serving UAW Local 1069 as a Trustee and for the last 13+ years as the Financial Secretary/Benefits Representative helping our retirees and current members with their benefits. He will be greatly missed. Mike, the Executive Board, Bargaining Committee, myself and this Membership wish you the best of luck in your next step in life. Thank you.

Over the weekend we have received more good news for our membership here in Ridley Park, the company has announced we have been awarded a contract to build 19 new CH-47, 18 for South Korea and 1 additional for Spain with delivery’s starting in 2026. With this great news we will continue to contact our Legislators and lobby for more new work to be brought into the Ridley Park facility.

During our last Membership meeting on June 4, 2023 (combined May and June due to Memorial Day holiday) a motion was made to suspend our monthly meetings for the summertime with an exception made that if an emergent situation came up, we would call a special meeting. Due to Mike Barbacano retiring there will be a General Membership Meeting Sunday July 23, 2023, at 10:00 am for nominations for Financial Secretary/Benefits Representative. Please plan on attending.

Everyday I’m thankful for the support this Membership has shown your Local 1069 Elected Leadership. We continue to talk to the Company and our Congressional Leadership to bring work into this site.

In Solidarity,

Thomas Lyons
President
