Dear Brothers and Sister,
It is extremely unfortunate to inform our membership that two of our UAW Local 1069 Brothers have been “discharged” from the Company for allegedly violating PRO-1909, Administration of Corrective Action, and the Employee Corrective Action Process Requirements (ECAPR) and PRO-4332, Workplace and Sexual Harassment. The Boeing Company believed these two employees engaged in inappropriate and offensive conversation which they have concluded met the requirements of “racial harassment.”
UAW Local 1069 Leadership adamantly disagrees with the Boeing Company’s analysis. We accurately trust that ALL Local 1069 members treat one another with great respect and have never, ever engaged in any behavior that resulted in racial misconduct. We must now be very aware of the conversations, words, and phrases we choose to use when entering these gates. Any employee could indeed be offended by remarks made in general conversations or heard in passing. This Company is now “hell-bent” on making examples of employees by immediately resorting to termination. I am even at a loss for what words or phrases I can use when in our factory.
Once again, you are reminded to please request Union Representation when participating in any Company investigation, speaking with Company personnel, and of course, when speaking with managers in conversations other than work instructions. Anything you now say can and will be taken out of perspective.
In addition, there will be a Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA) for this quarter in the amount of $0.33 effective July 9, 2021. The current maximum COLA amount for this unit is $1.27
Lastly, from time to time, we become aware of regrettable news of untimely losses of UAW Local 1069 Brothers and Sisters. We do ask our members to please contact your UAW Local 1069 Leadership in our factory and certainly at our hall when one of our members passes away. We would like to correspond this news by way of communication through postings on our Union Boards with all relevant information and condolences.
Always remain UAW Local 1069 strong
In Remembrance of Curt Barrow (Aircraft Technician, CH-47) who suddenly passed away on May 25, 2021.
