July 7, 2022
Dear Brothers and Sisters,
Our Veteran’s Committee is currently working with the Boeing Veterans Engagement Team (BVET) to raise awareness for Remember Everyone Deployed (R.E.D.) Friday’s. Our goal is to raise approximately $3000 to be split between the Michael Strange Foundation and Walk for the Wounded. Red shirts are still available for purchase to help us achieve this objective. To help meet this target, there are two (2) more sales events scheduled. The dates will be Tuesday, July 12, 2022, from 11 AM – 12 PM in the 3-92 café and Wednesday, July 13, 2022, from 11 AM – 12 PM in the 3-57 café. Many thanks to our BVET, especially our UAW Veteran’s Committee Chairman, Gary Stein.
We soon will be taking orders and distributing T-Shirts, free-of-charge to ALL UAW Local 1069 members in support of our upcoming Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) negotiations. We will post on our website (uawlocal1069.org) and have forms available for our Sisters and Brothers to submit regarding shirt sizes. Stay tuned.
Lastly, there will be a Cost-of-Living Adjustment (COLA) for this quarter in the amount of $0.51 effective July 8, 2022. The current maximum COLA amount for this unit is $2.64.
We wish to thank and recognize our UAW Brother (Janitor), Clayton Zuber. Early Wednesday morning there was an emergency situation in our Fitness Center. The A/C unit located in the ceiling above malfunctioned, which led to flooding in the “studio” room and in the “cardio” location. There was a considerable amount of water on the floors of these areas and the ceiling above was falling creating an injury risk for any employee using these areas. When notified, Clayton stopped his daily tasks/run to quickly come over and diligently worked to remedy this hazardous condition. The fitness center is normally cleaned and maintained by “outside” contractors. This is yet another example why we need more UAW employees added to our Labor Pool and UAW Local 1069 employees ready and available to perform these types of tasks.
Countdown To Contract: 91 Days
In Solidarity,
Michael Tolassi
President
