Dear Brothers and Sisters,
We are pleased to announce that effective immediately John Schwartz (Final Assembly Inspector – V-22) and Gary Stein (Assembly Sheetmetal “A” – V-22) have stepped up to jointly co- chair our Veterans Committee. We thank them for taking on this role and we wish to thank Kieran Kelly (Operational Support Inspector – Dynamic Center) for previously leading this committee. We are confident John and Gary will continue doing great things for our veterans here at Boeing and around the world. On this note the Veterans Committee will be holding their gate collection on Thursday, April 26th and Friday, April 27th 2018. Any employee wishing to volunteer for gate collection duties please contact John or Gary. We always look forward to your continuous and generous donations.
Your UAW Leadership would like to stress to ALL of our brothers and sisters we are NOT supportive of the Company’s MSE (Manufacturer Self Examination) process. We would like to see this privilege removed from all employees and in all shops throughout the plant. However, if you do have the MSE authority only use this process when you perform work on your jobs solely. DO NOT USE THIS AUTHORITY ON JOBS YOU DO NOT PERFORM. This can lead to discipline which may include termination. Do not let any manager instruct you to use your MSE “stamp” on jobs you did not perform. We still urge all employees to continue to have your inspector look at ALL jobs you perform in addition to using your MSE privilege. This is your right and we all want to ensure the highest quality of work is performed prior to leaving our factory. A second set of eyes is crucial to the quality of your work.
Lastly, we have been informed that some employees may be instructed by managers to perform work outside of their job classification or taking this responsibility on their own. If any employee feels this is an issue you have the right to request representation to review your duties that pertain to your work scope. We will promptly address any issue on this matter.
Reminders:
Our membership meeting will be held this Sunday, April 22nd @ 10:00 AM at our union hall. Please plan to attend, I am sure there are many issues and concerns you wish to discuss.
