Important Information

October 19, 2017

Dear Brothers and Sisters,
We strongly emphasize and encourage our members to request union representation when speaking, or participating in any interviews with company representatives and/or security personnel. Some of our brothers and sisters have been participating with interviews and signing documents with company and security employees without their union representatives present. It is within your rights to request representation prior to any interview or prior to signing any document presented to you. If a company or security representative informs you there is no need to request representation please continue to insist that you have us present.

Effective October 6, 2017 the Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA) amount is $0.04. The current maximum COLA amount for this unit is $0.25. Per Article XI, Section 4, c., Effective on October 6, 2017, the COLA shall be added to the employee’s base rate and made a part thereof.

Effective October 6, 2017, any employees below the rate range maximum (Table 1) or Single Rate (Table 2) in effect for their rate range will have their base rates increased by application of a three (3%) percent GWI. An employee cannot exceed the maximum of their rate range or Single Rate upon application of a GWI and if applicable, will receive the remaining amount of the GWI in a lump sum payment. Employees who are paid at or above the rate range maximum (Table 1) or Single Rate (Table 2) will receive a four (4%) percent lump sum in lieu of any GWI. Lump sums in lieu of GWI’s will be calculated based on an employee’s pure base rate (plus shift differential and lead pay if applicable) in effect on date of GWI, multiplied by Lump Sum percentages above, then multiplied by 2080.The lump sum payment will be paid within thirty (30) calendar days of October 6, 2017.
The Fall 2017 Shift Preference period started October 15, 2017 and runs through October 31, 2017. Any hourly employee may request to transfer to another shift within their job classification and Center (CBA Article 8, Section 20).

Upcoming Veteran’s Committee Events

October 6, 2017

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

The Veterans Committee is excited to announce that we will be holding our first chili cook-off on November 12th at the Union Hall. All proceeds will go to the Walk for the Wounded and we are researching some other local Veterans charities to donate to as well. We are looking for competitors. More details about prizes and events will follow in the coming weeks.

The Boeing Veterans Task Force and UAW Local 1069 Veterans Committee are partnering with Boeing Asian American Professional Association (BAAPA) and Boeing Employee Ability Awareness Association (BEAAA) to hold a Winter Clothing Drive that will benefit 3 Veterans Organizations in the Philadelphia Area. We will be collecting Men’s, Women’s and children (new or ‘like new’) Winter Clothing (coats, scarves, hats, boots, gloves) during the month of October. The collection will take place October 4th to November 7th. Please give all donations to the following people: Kieran Kelly, Chairman, John Schwartz, Co-Chairman, Ryan Kerrigan, Co-Chairman, Steve Brophy, Gary Stein, Scott Patton and Bill Motley.

If you are interested in participating in these events please contact Kieran Kelly, Ryan Kerrigan, or John Schwartz and we can make sure that you are added. As always thank you for all the support and showing our fighting men and women that they are appreciated.

HOME OF THE FREE BECAUSE OF THE BRAVE!

Thank you,

Kieran P. Kelly
