UAW Local 1069

October 11, 2021
Dear Brothers and Sisters,
We are pleased to inform our membership of our successful outcome in an Arbitration case that was attended by your Local 1069 Leadership Team in June 2021 representing one of our own. On February 16, 2021, an employee, most significantly a 1069 Brother, was unjustly discharged for allegedly making “physical” contact along with making “inappropriate” comments of a “sexual nature” to another employee. Our UAW Local 1069 Leadership Team made a dire decision to take this case to The American Arbitration Association (AAA). We vehemently argued and convinced the Arbitrator to NOT sustain the discharge of our 1069 Brother. The Company was directed to reinstate the employee within one week of this decision. In addition, the Arbitrator awarded the employee “full back pay.” Great job to our Local 1069 Leadership Team in winning this action.
Through our continued persistence and working with The Company, we are making some progress in having The Company hire employees who will become Local 1069 members to our Labor Pool positions. We were able to convince our SSG (Maintenance) Leadership to add a UAW Local 1069 employee to the position of Utility Man and Cleaner, Job Classification 78G01, Interchangeable Occupational Unit. We realize we have a lot more work to do, and we will continue our fight to add UAW members to ALL in-house classifications and will most certainly lobby to eliminate ALL subcontractors in our plant.
Lastly, your Local 1069 Leadership Team continues talking to and working with The Company on rectifying the “Table II” pay rate scale. These discussions are on pause until after our General Election is concluded. Thereafter, The Boeing Company wishes to seriously continue with these meetings beginning mid-October. We will continue our quest to make every represented employee “one team,” as we are considered by The Company.
We did receive a Cost-of-living Adjustment (COLA) in the amount of $0.36 which took effect October 1, 2021.

Reminder: Please come out and exercise your right and privilege to vote in tomorrow’s important election. We look forward to seeing all of you at our Union Hall.

Stay United and Remain UAW Local 1069 Strong

In Solidarity,

Michael A Tolassi
President
