Dear Brother and Sisters,
The communication we received from Boeing Leadership of work returning to Ridley Park is great news for our site. The work returning is from the Boeing facility in St. Clair. Let’s hope that this is the start of more of our work returning. Once we are informed of the amount of work and the schedule of its return, we will keep you informed. Every opportunity we have, your Bargaining Committee continually requests the Company to bring work into our site.
I had our Shop Stewards stop around and see each of you and asked you to sign a letter addressed to our Congressional Leadership requesting their support in appropriations of more funding for our Chinook Block II and V-22 Osprey programs. We have received over 900 signatures so far. If you haven’t signed one yet, please see your Shop Steward and request one to sign.
We will be receiving a $0.19 Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA) on July 7, 2023, for this last quarter. This brings our current COLA to $0.24.
As I’m sure everyone is aware the Company declared a surplus of 49 employees in 10 different classifications. Your Local 1069 Leadership team was able to secure a Voluntary Layoff (VLO) for those Classifications plus an additional 16 Classifications. The Company accepted 28 out of 31 people for the VLO program. With the hard work of your Committee, Shop Stewards and the recall of 4 Composite Fabricators no employees will be laid off. There will be some reclassifications but NO INVOLUNTARY LAYOFFS. We would like to thank our members who applied for the Voluntary Layoff program, which in turn possibly saved jobs of less senior Brothers and Sisters who would have been affected.
