Dear Brothers and Sisters,
We wish to thank our Local 1069 Brothers and Sisters for your persistence by “calling” in maintenance and custodial work tickets to our Maintenance Clerk. Please continue to do so when you see issues in your shops and within our plant that need maintenance repairs and required janitorial services. We do notice the much lesser quality of work when our represented employees are NOT performing these tasks. The contact number for our Maintenance Clerk is 1-3515. Let’s continue to emphasize the importance of these efforts to be performed by employees who are represented by UAW Local 1069 exclusively.
Also, there will be a Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA) for this quarter in the amount of $0.08 effective April 2, 2021. The current maximum COLA amount for this unit is $0.94.
Applications are available for the 2021 UAW-Region 9-Thomas M. Fricano Scholarship Fund. You can get these applications at the Union Hall or download these forms from the Region 9 website (region9.uaw.org). The deadline for returning these applications is June 30, 2021.
Lastly, we continue to keep in contact with our UAW International Representatives and closely monitor the CDC guidelines for gathering restrictions. We do however anticipate these mandates will ease real soon and allow us to resume our membership meetings and get back to business. We certainly will keep our membership informed of all the latest developments. We do look forward to seeing all of you back down your Union Hall.

Dear Brothers and Sisters,
Hopefully, by now you all have received your new UAW Local 1069 Membership cards along with your “Weingarten Rights” card. Please review your new cards thoroughly, especially your Weingarten Rights card. Know your rights in ANY event when you are required to meet with Boeing Management, Investigators, and/or Security personnel for ANY reasons.
We have experienced “alleged” claims against some of our UAW Local 1069 Members made by non-represented employees regarding incidents of harassment and/or inappropriate behaviors. Please be mindful of your words and actions when having conversations with ANY non-represented employee (salary), no matter what title he or she may hold. We highly suggest when speaking with salaried employees to have a Union Representative with you to witness and listen to your conversations. Our site’s Labor Relations Specialists takes the position that non-representative folks are considered “more credible” than any of our 1069 Brothers and Sisters.
Also, this past Friday, there were three slip-and-fall injuries to our members due to the ice left untreated on Boeing property. Over the years, past practice here at our site was to use our represented Facilities employees assisting with snow and ice removal. Our SSG (Maintenance) Management Site Director now chooses NOT to have our Brothers and Sisters assist with these emergency operations and solely rely on outside contractors. This is yet another attempt by our Maintenance Management Team to eliminate work performed by our UAW Brothers and Sisters. This also proved to be disastrous to our site and to the members who were injured by trying to save a dollar.
Lastly, we will be receiving a 5-day Philadelphia Performance Incentive Payout (PPIP) this Thursday, February 25, 2021. Keep up the great work and continue to do what you do best, build the best aircraft in the world.
In Loving Memory of

Dear Brothers and Sisters,
I recently met with site (CH-47, V-22, and Composite Fabrication) senior managers for an update and outlook regarding program work statements for 2021. As previously acknowledged, our manufacturing forecast appears optimistic this year for all of these programs. We have welcomed more than two hundred new employees in our production shops over the past two years. We look forward to continuing this trend into the future.
Unfortunately, under our current Shared Services Group (SSG), Maintenance Management Team, during these same few years, manpower in our facilities services group has been reduced. We have lost approximately nineteen members across our maintenance job classifications. Also, we went from around forty represented janitors to an astonishing new low, eighteen. These numbers are staggering, considering Boeing SSG management still employs and contracts “Skookum” Services (maintenance sub-contractors) along with fourteen Janitorial, non-UAW Local 1069 workers in our plant. We consider these decisions clear cases of “job erosion” in our represented family groups. As stated in my previous Chopper, The Boeing Company’s actions are actively being addressed by our UAW Leadership Team.
Please be aware that in addition to our production UAW members, we have a well qualified, certified, and properly trained Maintenance workforce who are responsible for the facilities work and up-keep in and throughout our factory. We also have Local 1069 Brothers and Sisters in the Labor Pool who work very hard with the responsibilities of keeping our site cleaned and sanitized. We urge ALL of our members to keep this in mind and NOT perform any tasks and duties relating to these family groups and classifications. First and foremost, production employees are not properly trained, nor certified to perform these jobs. In addition, if you do perform duties pertaining to these maintenance and labor pool jobs, you will be violating our Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) by “working-out-of-classification.” If unsure what these specific duties are, please request your Union Representative for further clarification. Please assist and support our Maintenance and Labor Pool Brothers and Sisters by calling our Boeing Maintenance “Dispatcher” when you see maintenance and cleaning issues throughout our plant. The numbers to call are 1-3515 and 1-1616. Do not count on Boeing Managers to make contact or call in these work “tickets.” We, UAW Local 1069 Members must take this initiative.
