Dear Brothers and Sisters,
The Company has notified the Union that they plan to declare a surplus. Your Leadership Team will do everything possible to mitigate this surplus. The Company is offering a Voluntary Layoff (VLO) to those in the affected classifications only. Employees in the affected classifications will be notified of the VLO. You may submit your Registration of Interest from Wednesday Oct 25, 2023, to November 1, 2023, until 11:59pm. For those who registered for the VLO and are accepted, the last day of work and on the payroll will be December 1, 2023. This VLO being offered by the Company is only happening due to the persistence of your Leadership Team, so if you’re eligible or close to the age you should strongly consider it. For the employees impacted by the surplus your last day of work will be December 1, 2023, and your last day on the payroll will be January 19, 2024.
We will be having two seminars at the Union Hall on Monday October 30, 2023, at 11:00 am and 1:00 pm, for employees that decide to take the VLO or are planning on retiring in the near future. We will have legal representatives from the law firm Pond Lehocky. They represent clients seeking Workers Compensation, Social Security Disability/Long Term Disability, along with many other legal needs. Also in attendance will be Lyndsey Berry, financial advisor from Ameriprise Financial. These representatives will be able to answer all your questions and address your concerns relating to these topics. You’re welcome to bring your spouse/domestic partner to this seminar. Please call the Union Hall at 610-876-6271 to let us know if you plan to attend one of the meetings. We need to get an approximate headcount.

As many of you are aware, Vice President Jim Lux had a medical issue and has been out of work. He is in good hands and getting the best of care with the doctors at Lankenau Hospital. We hope to have him back to work real soon. In the meantime, I am temporarily appointing Rich Brown, Northside Committeeman to take over the Vice President duties until Jimmy can return to work. Rich brings to the table many years of experience and I’m confident he can fill in for Jimmy as Vice President. To fill in for Rich Brown, I’m appointing Shop Steward Anthony Deluca to fill the Northside Committee position. I’m confident that Anthony can continue to represent our Brothers and Sisters at the Committee level.
We are fortunate to have members of Senator Fetterman’s staff visiting us on Wednesday, October 11, 2023. Your Bargaining Team will be meeting with his staffers prior to them touring the Facility. His staff members are here to learn more about our CH-47 and V-22 production. We will definitely inform them of the challenges we are facing.
A major portion of our UAW International Union Big 3 are on strike fighting for Economic Justice. If they’re not walking a picket line right now, they could be shortly. We currently have a couple local UAW facilities on strike right now. Our Brothers and Sisters are fighting for Fair Wages and Benefits. All are welcome to stop by and support them by walking the picket line or dropping supplies off such as water, soda or food. If you can’t stop by and still would like to support them by donating supplies. You can drop your donation at the Hall, and we’ll make sure it gets to them.
