Dear Brothers and Sisters,
I would like to thank everybody that showed up to cast their vote in our election on August 8th. Congratulations to Trustee Chuck Diehl and Committee Member John Thomas for winning their respective positions. After reviewing the numbers, the By-Laws, and the Constitution, it appears necessary to have a run-off election for the Financial Secretary/Benefits Representative.
I am in contact with the UAW International for their support and insight on this matter to confirm. As it stands now the run-off election will be Tuesday, August 15, 2023, from 5:00am to 8:00pm as scheduled on the Election Notice. As per Article 38 Section 17 of the UAW Constitution “Where run-off elections are necessary, because a candidate for Local Union Executive Office fails to receive a majority vote, the run-off shall be confined to the two candidates receiving the highest number of votes for the office involved”. If our International provides anything different to how we see it I will update you.
