Dear Brothers and Sisters,
I wish to notify our Brothers and Sisters that your UAW Local 1069 Leadership team along with our Job’s Committee team agreed with The Boeing Company on a new “Memorandum of Agreement” regarding the job classification “Blueprint Control Clerk.” The current responsibilities of Blueprint Control Clerk (59A01, Labor Grade 1) job classification will be assigned to the Material Support (01D08, Labor Grade 8) job classification. In agreeing to the memorandum, this created an additional hiring in the Material Support organization at a seven (7) labor grade increase (Labor Grade 1 to Labor Grade 8). In any event, there is a dispute or should any concerns arise regarding this job combination, the historical job description of Blueprint Control Clerk (59A01) will remain in effect. We thank our Job’s Committee for a job well done.
Last week, myself, along with John Mozzani (Committeeman North Side) and Mike Barbacano (Benefits Rep. / Financial Secretary) attended the UAW Community Action Program (CAP) conference in Washington D.C. On Tuesday, February 4th, we took a trip up to Capitol Hill and visited Members of Congress, Mary Gay Scanlon, 5th District, Pa., Brendan Boyle 2nd District, Pa., Dwight Evans, 3rd District, Pa., Chrissy Houlahan, 6th District, Pa., and David Trone, 6th District, Maryland along with affiliates of their staff. We discussed many important issues regarding union rights, such as opposing “right to work” laws and the upcoming bill on the “right to organize.” All are in full support with Pro-Union activities and Pro-Labor actions in our states. Most importantly, we spent the majority of our time discussing OUR UAW Local and OUR needs here at Boeing Philadelphia/Ridley Park. We strongly urged and reminded them how critical our programs are to our men and women who serve our country and the utmost importance of the work our members do each and every day. We were assured by these political leaders their continued support and their unrelenting campaign on Capitol Hill to fully fund ALL of our programs here at this site, especially for UAW Local 1069. In continuing to “lobby” for our membership, I have a scheduled meeting with Congressman Donald Norcross, 1st District, New Jersey and member of the Armed Services Committee next week in his Cherry Hill office. I am confident we continue to have his full support as well. We certainly thank these Members of Congress for the hard work they do to sustain our workforce at this facility.

Dear Brothers and Sisters,
Thank you UAW Local 1069 Brothers and Sisters for a job well done last year for once again realizing another positive payout in our “Philadelphia Performance Incentive Program” (PPIP). At the end of December 2019, we were at a 5-day payout. Congrats to all who completed the Industrial Athlete Program which earned us an additional day payout (6 days). We were informed by The Boeing Company last week that we were to receive a 6-day payout for the year 2019. Your UAW Leadership team worked very hard and very long on the formula used to calculate our payout and figured in some dynamics we believed was “missed” by The Company. Because of the many challenges we all faced last year, due to no fault of this membership (Workday/Work life, hiring issues, and staffing shortages) and the many more additional accomplishments YOU have made on our programs, we asked company leaders to re-evaluate their PPIP blueprint. Due to your leadership’s continuous efforts and persuasion, we are pleased to inform our members that we were able to achieve an additional day to afford us a 7-day payment. Our 7-day payout will be distributed to all UAW Local 1069 members on February 27, 2020. Keep up your remarkable accomplishments and let’s work together to bring our payout to over 7 days for this year.
John Mozzani (North Side Committeeman), Mike Barbacano (Benefit Rep / Financial Secretary) and I will be in Washington D.C. next week attending the UAW Community Action Program (CAP) Conference. We have scheduled meetings on Tuesday, February 4th with our political friends (Congressional and Senate Leaders) on Capitol Hill. You can be assured we will STRONGLY remind them where they receive their votes from and to continue to work hard for all of our programs based here at this site in Philadelphia/Ridley Park. Thank you to all who contribute to our V-CAP Program and a “shout-out” to our new hires who have signed up to donate to this fund. These contributions will help our political allies so they may continue to remain in office and to keep on lobbying for current and future programs at Boeing Philadelphia.
Lastly, we thank all of our members who attended our UAW Membership meeting this past Sunday, especially to our new hires who recently joined our ranks. As we do at every meeting, we strive to provide you with valuable information regarding your union activities and happenings in the plant. Please make it a priority to attend our Membership meeting Sunday, February 23, 2020. I am certain we will once again share with you much more valuable information and will surely address any and all concerns you may have.
Reminder: The following internal job is open for UAW Local 1069 members to apply.
Sheetmetal Assembler, B 18A06, Req. # – 00000179591, 1st Shift, Open Dates: 1/25/20 – 2/7/20.

Dear Brothers and Sisters,
Boeing Philadelphia and Delaware County Community College Workforce Development has entered into a partnership offering a course titled “Introduction to Sheet Metal and Assembly” (PDS 8710) to any internal employee interested. This class will be held at the DCCC campus located at 901 S. Media Line Rd. Media Pa. 19063. Class dates for this course are scheduled for February 25, 2020 to July 2, 2020. This course will consist of 19 weeks/150 hours of classroom and lab instruction. There will be a 10 student enrollment minimum to hold a class, 15 maximum class size. The days for attendance will be Tuesday and Thursday evenings 4PM – 8PM. All current Boeing employees are eligible and this course is fully funded through the Learning Together Program (providing LTP guidelines are met and satisfied). Any employee interested in enrolling please access “Workday,” generate the voucher for an individual course on the LTP site and email it to: serrano@collegiateconsortium.org. This information will also be available on “Between the Blades.” After all internal employees have been exhausted, this course will then be offered to non-Boeing employees wishing to attend. Cost for these folks will be $3,999.00.
Also, your UAW Leadership worked very hard to get a signed “Grievance Resolution” regarding the use of contracting of janitorial services. The Boeing Company will discontinue the use of LWC Janitorial Services effective 2/15/20. Moving forward, The Company agrees that prior to sub-contracting janitorial services, we will meet and confer regarding reasons and business concerns for any future sub-contracting of janitorial work. Your UAW Leadership will have the opportunity to present alternatives to The Company’s proposal to sub-contract janitorial work in the future.
Lastly, a strong reminder to please attend our membership meeting this Sunday, January 26, 2020 @10AM. We will discuss many important topics and address any concerns you may have. We look forward to seeing all of you at our hall.

Mike Tolassi
